Who is affected?
All users who signed up for the Talkatone WORLD service are affected. The Talkatone WORLD app required users to purchase a phone number during sign-up. If you had to purchase your Talkatone phone number, you are affected. If you received this notice through email, it is because Talkatone believes you are a Talkatone WORLD user.
What happens next?
Talkatone has already removed the Talkatone WORLD app from the Apple and Google Play app stores. New Talkatone WORLD accounts cannot be created and phone numbers cannot be extended.
If your Talkatone WORLD phone number was scheduled to expire between the time of this announcement and the termination of the Talkatone WORLD service, you will receive an automatic extension of your Talkatone WORLD phone number until the date of termination, free of charge. In the meantime, you will not be able to purchase any extensions of your phone number.
In addition, Talkatone WORLD users will not be able to purchase any credits as of the time of this announcement. All unused credits will be forfeited when the service ends.
Will I be compensated?
Talkatone realizes that this change may cause a certain amount of inconvenience for users with active phone numbers. That’s why we have decided to grant such users the following:
200 free credits, which can be used for calling US and Canada numbers
100 paid credits, which can be used for calling any destination we support
All credits are non-redeemable and will expire and be forfeited when the Talkatone WORLD service ceases to operate on September 30, 2016.
Can I get a refund?
Talkatone cannot issue refunds for in-app purchases, as all purchases are currently made through the Google Play and Apple app stores. Talkatone does not have access to your credit card information.
