Google Voice Call Settings
Google voice lets you control where you receive calls to your Google Voice number.

You can adjust these Google Voice settings in two places:
  1. On the Google Voice website (www.google.com/voice > click on the settings/gear icon in the upper right corner > select settings
  2. Inside the Talkatone app (go to Settings > Receive Calls and Texts)
Checking "Forwarding Calls to Gmail" will let you receive calls to your Google Voice number inside the Talkatone app. We recommend making sure "Forward Calls to Gmail" is checked so that you will receive calls in Talkatone and will not use up any cell minutes. Be sure to also enable Push Notifications in the Settings Tab in the Talkatone app so that you are sure not to miss any calls/texts.

When people call your Google Voice number, you can also forward these calls to other numbers. However, if you check both "Forward calls to Gmail" and also forward calls to your regular cell phone number and are using Talkatone on your cell phone then your cell phone will ring twice -- in the native phone app and
also in Talkatone. Thus we suggest that you choose to forward calls either to Gmail (Talkatone) or your cell phone if you are using Talkatone on your cell phone.

Google Voice Text Messaging settings

You can adjust these Google Voice settings in two places:
  1. On the Google Voice website (www.google.com/voice > click on the settings icon in the upper right corner > select settings > voicemail & text
  2. Inside the Talkatone app (go to Settings > Receive Calls and Texts)

you will receive SMS messages instantaneously in Talkatone. However, you will also receive these SMS messages in your email account, which can clutter your email account. You could set up a filter, so that your email does not get cluttered with SMS messages. Alternatively, if you uncheck, "Forward text messages to my email" you will receive texts in Talkatone with up to a 20 second delay.
